Rin Rin Cheese Tart-Strawberry by Pâtisserie Glacé

Last Week, I was wondering around Icon Village near Tg Pagar Mrt where I chanced upon this Japanese Bakery, Pâtisserie Glacé. The moment I saw their cakes in the freezer display and the poster of this thing they called "Rin Rin Cheese Tart", I knew I have to had one as they looked so delicious!

I bought one home to eat after dinner and I only bought one as each cost $3.00...a bit ex. Anyways, since there are so many flavors to choose from, and it's so hard to choose as you want to eat them all, I randomly picked the strawberry one to try out.

First few bites you can taste the sweet cheesy soft goodness, the strawberry flavor is towards the center of the tart. Notice the cookie base at the bottom! Makes you want to quickly eat finish the top layer to get to it!

By now, I have finished all the cheese parts. What awaited me was a nice crispy cookie at the bottom, this I also finished off quickly as well because it just taste so delicious!

The whole cheese tart was gone in less than 6 mins! It would have been faster if I need not take these pics as I consume it heh heh. I highly recommend this cheese tart, goes very well with a cup of hot Lipton tea, heavenly... : )

Ultraman Zero Story Comics

 
 Ultraman has always been one of my favs and this series of comics, titled "Ultraman Zero Story" tells of the story of all the Ultraman brothers before they came to Earth.

  Though the books are in Japanese, the moment I saw the art work inside I was blown away! It helped that the first 8 books, I got them at a bargain price at 2nd-Hand Jap bookstore, BookMart in Central Mall, less than $9 a book! It sells usually for about $12 a book at Kino!

  Now I am anticipating Book 11 to come out soon, Shoowatch!

My Modeling Station

  Been a while since I posted anything. Here are some pics of my plastic modeling station. I usually do my airbrushing in the kitchen, so that the fumes will not choke up the whole house : )

Seen here work in progress is my Macross Frontier VF-25 Messiah, with all the parts "surfaced". Next is to pre-shade all the parts, which were done by the time I posted these.

  When will this be completed I wonder?

Mum's Present for me : Bandai 1/100 Deluxe Zeta Gundam

Today, I am going to showcase another classic in my collection, the Bandai 1/100 Deluxe Zeta Gundam. This is circa 1985, can be considered a vintage toy now. I have kept it with me all this while, as this was a present that my mum bought for me (remembered it cost $50 from Chinatown OG I think...), either because i did well in school or maybe it was a reward after I agreed to go visit the dentist, hmm...? Notice the good condition of the box and toy as I have stored it in my cupboard and only took it out every few years to clear off the dust and admire the item.

The first thing that struck me when I first set my eyes on this toy was the incredible box art. Though I have not seen the anime series before, the sight of Zeta Gundam on the box instantly attracted me and I begged my mum to buy it for me :). Here are some images of the box.

Check out the words on the toy, Bandai 1985 JAPAN! Most toys, if not all toys are made in China these days. You can hardly find any toys that is still being made in Japan, except the Gundam model kits!

Whoever Has The Most Toys When He Dies Wins

Well, the above title might be what all toy collectors strive to achieve, to have the the most toys, be it new or old, the coolest or the most well-made etc.

But actually, I saw these words in the lift at the Mint Museum of Toys at 26 Seah Street. Me and dear went there for a visit last Sunday afternoon and it was a very enjoyable experience heh.

There were lots of toys to see there, spread over 5 levels. There were toys from my favorite Star Wars, Ultraman and Masked Riders, as well as toys that we grew up with like Mickey Mouse, Popeye, Batman, Superman, Tin Tin and many many more. Some toys in the museum are the only few left in the world, including this Mickey Mouse toy that cost US$35,000. One of the visitor pointed out to me that this is the most expensive toy in the whole museum... wow, that's a lot of monies for a toy!

I brought along my DSLR to shoot almost all the toys, that's my way to "Collect 'em all" without having to break the bank to bring them home ha ha! Here all some pics to share, the full set can be seen in my facebook album, check them out yah : ) ?

My Oldest Toy : Bandai Ultraman LSI Game

I am going to start of my blog with the oldest toy in my collection, Bandai Ultraman LSI Game. I think I have this thing with me since I was 4 years old (It came out in 1983), which means about 27 years!

This game predates all the Family Computers, Nintendos, Sega Mega Drives, PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 and X-boxes. This thing came out when hand-held game consoles were the rage in those days. Remember games like Heli-Battle, Western Bar by Casio? So I guess you can call it one of the ancestors of the modern day PSP console.

Sad to say that this game is no longer in working condition. When i tried it recently, it can't be switched on...It was a simple game where you just put in 4 AA size batteries or plug in the DC power cable and you can start playing. There is a "Open" button where you press and the LCD screen "Pops-Up".

The game play is simple. First Stage, you start off as "Hayata", the human form of Ultraman and you move across the screen trying to avoid a UFO that shoots at you. When you gained enough points, you will be able to transform into Ultraman by using the "Beta Capsule". Second Stage is where you fight different monsters that appeared in the show like Zetton and Ele-King. The third stage is where you fight Alien Baltan and you will use the Ultraman's signature finishing move, the "Spacium Ray" to kill him! Once that is done, you will transform back to Hayata and start all over again. All these game play is done with the main tune of the Ultraman's show in the background, sweet nostalgia.... :)
